Laundry Day

March 10, 2010 by Aliesha

Every Wednesday is laundry day. I started this when we first got married, and I love being in a routine in that area. It keeps me accountable to actually get it done on a regular basis and not let it pile up until it’s out of control. (I know that times will change with a newborn, and laundry only one day a week won’t cut it!) Throughout my first trimester when I was soooo sick, laundry was pretty much the only house chore that I consistently kept up with. I really think an expanded “chore schedule” would work really well for me, so I’m considering assigning other chores to other days and seeing how that goes.

Do you have a cleaning schedule? Do you have routines or checklists you follow when cleaning?

First Sprouts

March 9, 2010 by Aliesha

I planted tomatoes and peppers in little pots last week. My tomatoes are just starting to sprout! The peppers aren’t doing anything yet, so I’m a little worried. But we’re very happy to see our tomatoes starting out well so far!

Are you planning a garden for the summer? Are you starting anything inside?

Dollar Tree Bargains

March 9, 2010 by Aliesha

I’m always amazed at what I can find at the Dollar Tree for only $1! It is literally one of my very favorite places to shop (I’m not kidding!). Here are a few things I scored recently.
1) Spray bottle for watering the seeds I have planted indoors. I usually get a spray bottle at Walmart for the same price, but this one is twice the size of those bottles.

2) Green woven trivets. These came two-in-a-pack, so I thought it was a good deal! And it’s a really pretty green… the picture doesn’t do them justice. (I just realized all three items in this picture are green. It’s one of my favorite colors.)

3) A new pot for my succulent plant. My succulents have outgrown their current pot, so I’m going to re-pot the biggest one in the new green pot and leave the three tall, spindly ones in the old pot.4) A Rubbermaid water bottle. I love this thing! I was going through SO many plastic water bottles and knew that it really couldn’t be good for the environment. I’ve always been opposed to water bottles with straws (I don’t know…maybe because I feel like they are sucking my face inside the bottle?), but when I saw this one I was sold. Pretty top? Check. Big enough? Check. (Holds 20 oz.) Non-face-sucking technology? Check. Just a lid that snaps over a hole to drink out of! Perfect. And the price… unbeatable.Where are your favorite places to find bargains?
