Laundry Day

March 10, 2010 by Aliesha

Every Wednesday is laundry day. I started this when we first got married, and I love being in a routine in that area. It keeps me accountable to actually get it done on a regular basis and not let it pile up until it’s out of control. (I know that times will change with a newborn, and laundry only one day a week won’t cut it!) Throughout my first trimester when I was soooo sick, laundry was pretty much the only house chore that I consistently kept up with. I really think an expanded “chore schedule” would work really well for me, so I’m considering assigning other chores to other days and seeing how that goes.

Do you have a cleaning schedule? Do you have routines or checklists you follow when cleaning?

I always did laundry on Saturdays, and really, one day a week was enough, until baby number three arrived a few weeks ago! Other than cloth diapers that is. They get washed separately anyway.

Hi Aliesha! Yes, I do have a quasi-routine. I do laundry when I first wake up in the morning (a basket gets carried to the wash when I leave my bedroom), then switch to dryer after breakfast, then I have the rest of the day to iron, fold, and put away.- I do clothes all week long to avoid a big “session”! I also dust and water the house plants on Mondays, and clean the bathrooms and vacuum on Tuesdays. That’s pretty much all I “schedule”. It really does help, you’re right! If you’ve never heard of Flylady.net before, check her out. A little overwhelming at first, but she has some fabulous ideas! Hope you’re having a great day!

I started to smile when I saw doing laundry just once a week..until you said “till I have a newborn”. So true!!! I have to do diapers ever two to three days. So are you planning on doing cloth diapers? I have Bum Genius, I’d love to answer any questions you have, I am a HUGE advocate of cloth diapers!!!
