First Sprouts

March 9, 2010 by Aliesha

I planted tomatoes and peppers in little pots last week. My tomatoes are just starting to sprout! The peppers aren’t doing anything yet, so I’m a little worried. But we’re very happy to see our tomatoes starting out well so far!

Are you planning a garden for the summer? Are you starting anything inside?

I’ve never started tomatoes from seen, but I worked with a lady that used to do that with great results. We always buy our tomato plants. Give your pepper seeds a little more time…but if they don’t sprout..you can always buy. Peppers are supper easy to grow resisting pests, they do take more time to produce but last longer than the tomatoes. We usually plant tomato, peppers, yellow squash plants. Last year I planted a tomatillo plant (green little tomatoes used in mexican dishes) We got nothing…because I had only planted one plant. Doing research I found out that 2 plants are required for cross pollination to occur. I’m going to see if I can try again this year. We also plant basil. Our garden is very small.
