Week Forty

August 6, 2010 by Aliesha

Last week’s photo can be seen here.

Yep, I’m still here, and no, I haven’t had my baby yet. I’m not sure I want to keep taking photos each week anymore…

At my appointment on Wednesday, my midwife said I am about 50% effaced and only 1/2 to 1 cm dilated. So… basically not much is going on. I’m cramping all the time, and my lower back aches a lot as well. I guess this is productive!

It would be cool if she were born on Monday, since it is 08/09/10, but being born today would be even cooler since only 3% of babies are born on their actual due date.

Hoping before next week I have a BABY picture to post, not another huge belly shot! Thanks for your prayers for patience!

Thoughts on Procrastination

August 5, 2010 by Aliesha

I’ve been reading a good book lately, and I wanted to share this excerpt that really resonated with me.

From Get More Done in Less Time by Donna Otto:

Do you know what really makes you tired? The things you don’t do, not the things you do!
Procrastination–worrying about the things you need to get done, putting them off because you dread them or because you would rather be doing something else–makes you tired, not work.
Your body feels tired, just from the strain of knowing there are so many things you should do that you never will get to.

Otto then recommends applying what she calls the “first and fast” rule to your daily tasks. Do the things you dislike or dread FIRST and get them over with quickly!

Revolutionary, right?
