Redeeming the Time on the Telephone

August 12, 2010 by Aliesha

I try to redeem the time as much as I can during the day, and one of the ways I do this is by doing simple one-handed tasks while I am on the telephone.

While on the phone, you can…
-water houseplants
-put away clean dishes
-throw in a load of laundry or switch laundry from the washer to the dryer
-make the bed
-straighten ANY room of the house
-carry things from the room they were in to the room in which they belong
-put letters out for the mail/check the mail
-dust
-wipe down counter-tops in the kitchen or bathroom
-organize small areas you’ve been meaning to get to (i.e., a junk drawer or your jewelry box)
-and I’m sure there are many more!

Of course, you’ll want to draw the line at things that are noisy or distracting (i.e., vacuuming) or require thought (i.e., responding to emails). 🙂

How do you redeem the time during the day?

Cloth Diaper Stash

August 11, 2010 by Aliesha

I posted a little while ago about our plans to cloth diaper. I thought I’d share what we ended up acquiring for that endeavor!

– 2 diapers (a Thirsties duo diaper and a FuzziBunz perfect size diaper in x-small) that might be the first diapers she can fit into!– 10 bumGenius One-Size Cloth Diapers (and, of course, the inserts that go in them). These are the 3.0s, since I bought them before the 4.0s came out.
– 10 infant Indian prefolds and 5 regular Indian prefolds, as well as a snappi. The prefolds will be used with covers…
– 5 covers (top to bottom: one small Thirsties diaper cover, two Thirsties duo wraps with velcro, and two Thirsties duo wraps with snaps)
– Cloth wipes. I have 24 of these. Some of them are actually hand-me-down washcloths, and some are simple flannel squares. I need to mix up some cloth wipes solution using a recipe found here or here.
Not pictured:
– bumGenius cloth diaper detergent (1 box)
– bumGenius odor-removing spray (1 bottle)

I also have a couple bumGenius 4.0s coming my way soon.

We still plan on installing a diaper sprayer on our toilet.

We will keep you posted on how things go once we start cloth diapering our baby girl!
