Week Forty-One

September 9, 2013 by Aliesha

Still pregnant, making me now 9 days “overdue”!  I don’t take pictures after 40 weeks, for obvious reasons.  Trust me, you wouldn’t believe how big my belly was if you saw it!  I’m now almost 41 inches around my widest point!

Edit: Here’s a cell-phone-quality picture, because it was requested!

Other than being really, really ready to have a baby, I’ve had a better week physically, maybe because it has cooled down slightly.  I was able to get outside a couple days and actually enjoy it without being oppressed by the heat!  I’ve been sleeping well and staying hydrated as best as I can.

Tad has been so sweet and helpful this week so I’ve been able to rest and prepare for having the baby.  He’s been such a huge support to me and I’m so thankful for him!!

This morning I met with a doctor at my practice (I LOVE her) and she was so patient with me wanting labor to start on its own without being induced.  Baby Punkin’ passed the non-stress test and the ultrasound tests with flying colors.  He is very active, his heart rate is good, and my amniotic fluid levels are fine.  My blood pressure looks good too!  Because he’s doing so well, my doctor did not schedule an induction yet (again, so thankful for this particular doctor!).  She wants me to come back on Friday if I haven’t gone into labor, and we’ll proceed from there.

I’m really trusting that God has a perfect time for our baby boy to be born.  Keep praying for patience for all of us as we wait!  Believe me, no one wants this baby to come tonight more than I do!

Week Forty

September 2, 2013 by Aliesha

Well I’ve reached 40 weeks once again, and this baby is going to have a September birthday!  I’m not really surprised, since I went to 41 weeks, 6 days with Vera and to 41 weeks, 2 days with Cordelia!  Read why I don’t think “40 weeks” is such a big deal.

With that said, I am struggling with wanting him to come now.  I’ve been facing a lot of pregnancy discomforts in the last week (I’ll spare you the details)!  Overall, though, I am very thankful to still be carrying a healthy baby.  My midwife seems to think he’s going to be big!  (Like 8.5 pounds or more…)

Things you can be praying for us:
-that I would have relief from the discomforts/difficulty sleeping I’ve been having the last few weeks
-that labor would start naturally without artificial induction
-that God would give me patience as I wait on His perfect timing for the birth of our baby boy
-that I would once again be able to have an unmedicated, natural birth
