Week Twenty-Nine

Week-29

So let’s talk about these pants.  I don’t care that they’re crazy… they are a pregnant woman’s dream!  They are soooo cool and comfortable!  I got them from Target for around $8 (clearance) and since they aren’t maternity, I bought a size up. With the elastic waist line, they fit perfectly!  They even have pockets.  They are super long on me, but I wear them with wedges and I feel glamorous.

Back to our regularly scheduled pregnancy update!

Last week I had a bit of a scare when I got a call on Monday afternoon telling me I had failed my glucose screening test.  Yikes!  I knew in my head that between 15 and 20% of women fail the first test while only 2-5% actually have gestational diabetes, but I was still really worried!  I took the longer test the very next morning.  It was not fun at all to have to fast 10 hours, drink 100mg of dextrose in a 5 minute period, then have my blood drawn every hour for the next three hours (oh, also while still not eating or drinking anything).  But it was nice to sit and read by myself in a cool waiting room during that time!  Tad was able to take a sick day so he could watch the kids that morning.  Just a tip, if you have to do this test, try and get up and walk around every 10-15 minutes during each hour.  I did that because I knew it would help my body metabolize the sugar better!  Long story short, I passed the second test with no problems and I do not have gestational diabetes.

Baby Apricot has been very active lately, as is normal.  Every time a stranger talks to me about this pregnancy, they tell me they think this baby is a boy.  (For what it’s worth, I heard that a lot when I was pregnant with the girls too!)

I’ve been exercising for a few minutes every morning as well as doing back stretches, and I have not had any back pain this week!  I also haven’t had any heartburn.  I’m feeling great!

Thank you for following us on this journey to meeting our new baby!  Thirteen weeks to go!

Week Twenty-Eight

Week-28

Third trimester… here we go!

I had a little cry-fest this past week when I realized that I will be pregnant for three more months!  September just feels like a loooong way off right now!  I already feel almost as big as I was when I delivered Jude, so it’s hard to imagine what it will be like in three more months!  I’ve been feeling pretty hormonal/emotional, so I’m trying to make sure I eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, and exercise.

But I remain grateful for a healthy pregnancy.  At my appointment last week my blood pressure was fine and so was my iron level (a big deal for me since I often struggle with low iron).  Baby Apricot was head-down at that appointment, so hopefully he or she will settle in comfortably and stay that way!  I took my glucose test but I haven’t heard back yet from that.

I feel so many kicks and punches because of the way Apricot is laying.  It’s really fun to feel a little foot or hand pressed right up to the surface of my belly!

I’ve completed my birth plan and filled out my hospital pre-registration paperwork.  Our hospital offers tours for older siblings, so I think I’m going to take Vera and Cordelia sometime this summer.

I’m thankful for Tad’s support right now and his patience with me when I’m emotional!

Week Twenty-Seven

Week-27

Since it’s been about five weeks since my last pregnancy post, I thought I should pop in with an update!  Baby Apricot now weighs approximately two pounds and he or she is VERY active lately!  I feel all kinds of flips, twists, and kicks throughout the day and night!  The girls have even had a chance to feel Apricot moving, and they think it’s pretty neat!

I’ve been very tired the last couple of weeks, so maybe baby is going through a growth spurt or something!  I just want to sleep all the time.  I’m thankful I can still grab a nap in the afternoon most days.  In other news, Tums are still my best friend due to all the heartburn this time!  I never experienced this much heartburn with the other babies, but it’s definitely not a big deal.

We have not picked out any names yet.  As it gets closer to the birth I’m sure we’ll have our top contenders picked out!

Feeling blessed each day to have this little one growing inside me!
