Week Twenty-Seven

May 7, 2010 by Aliesha

I feel like I just took last week’s photo!

I had a doctor’s appointment this past week (yesterday, actually) that included a glucose test and a RhoGam shot. My midwife said things are going well and that the baby’s heartbeat is steady and strong.

She did tell me that since my last appointment (5 weeks ago) I gained 10 pounds! No wonder I’ve been feeling a LOT bigger in my belly! It’s okay though, since I was not at the weight I needed to be last time. Now I am right on track, and as long as I only gain a pound a week from here on out, I’ll be fine.

Baby girl is very active and responds to me pressing against my belly. She kicks back! We are excited about all of the ways she is growing and developing.

We continue to thank God for the healthy pregnancy thus far. We do not take it for granted!

Healthy Snacks

May 7, 2010 by Aliesha

Lately in my pregnancy, I’ve been feeling hungry almost ALL the time! I’m trying to drink more water and cut back on sugary foods (which just leave me hungrier). Eating healthy snacks between meals can keep your blood sugar levels where they need to be and prevent you from overeating at meals.

I’ve compiled a list of good, healthy snacks as a reminder to myself 🙂 and to share with you all as well. Feel free to comment with some of your favorite snacks… for during pregnancy or otherwise!

Healthy Snacks

Weight Watcher’s yogurt cup (I usually eat half)
non-fat vanilla yogurt
banana
other fruit (clementine, apple, strawberries, etc.)
fruit salad
raisins or craisins (but watch, as these can be high in sugar)
hard-cooked egg
cheese and crackers (I like Wheat Thins Toasted Chips)
small amount of peanuts or a handful of almonds
wheat bread with local honey
half of a pb&j sandwich
homemade granola
salsa with veggies or a small amount of tortilla chips
fresh veggies with a light dressing
small tossed salad
smoothie made with frozen fruit
whole-grain muffin

So what healthy foods do you like to munch on?

Nursery Project: White Frames

May 7, 2010 by Aliesha

I created some art for our nursery for only $3! I bought frames from the dollar store ($1 each), painted them white (craft paint & brush, already on hand), and used fabric scraps from previous nursery projects to fill them with pops of color! I’m really pleased with how cute they turned out.

Want to see how our nursery is progressing? Check out our previous posts on the fabric birds, cloth cube, bunting banner, and light switch cover that I made.
