Beachy

June 2, 2011 by Aliesha

We took a little family trip to the beach today!  It only takes about 2 hours to get there, so we were able to have a leisurely day at the beach.  It was so relaxing!

she was giggling while the waves splashed around her!

Vera LOVED the water and didn’t seem to be afraid of the waves at all.  She sat on the shore eating sand (not too much, haha) and discovering seashells while the waves lapped against her little toes.

We thought she looked adorable in her sweet little suit and hat!

If you’re curious why I wasn’t concerned with Vera eating a little sand, you can read this post. 🙂

Start of Summer

June 1, 2011 by Aliesha

To me, June 1 starts the beginning of summer!  It has been HOT here… with temps in the low to mid 90’s already, with plenty of humidity to boot.  When Andrea told me she was planning a picnic on the waterfront, I jumped at the chance to get some fresh air while being in the shade and experiencing the cool breeze off the water.

playing with grass and leaves
eating a leaf
look at that hair all drenched in sweat

dozing in the stroller

We had a good time and it really wasn’t too terribly hot!

Houndstooth Dress

May 26, 2011 by Aliesha

As you know, I have a thing for houndstooth.  When I was at Hobby Lobby forever ago picking up materials for this project, I also snagged some awesome houndstooth fabric.  I originally was going to make a paper bag skirt for myself, but I changed my mind and decided to make a dress for Vera.  Here’s how it turned out:

And you’ll have to wait for me to take a picture of her modeling it! She wore it yesterday to my grandfather’s funeral, but I forgot to take a picture of her wearing it. I’ll get one soon!  Update: here’s one!

It was pretty fun to make, though it took me waaaay longer than it should have for something so basic.  I’m hoping to continue to making clothes for Vera as she grows, just like my mom did for me!
