Preparing for Baby: Our New Evenflo Travel System

March 21, 2017 by Aliesha

Thank you to Evenflo for kindly sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own.

I got to play pretend this week. I got to pretend we were taking our new baby Jellybean on a walk down our favorite route this week! I was testing out our new Evenflo Pivot Travel System, and it was a delight to imagine going on family walks with our sweet new one!

As soon as we found out we were expecting this time, I realized we would need a new infant car seat and stroller system, since the car seat we used for the first four is now expired. I had my eye on this travel system from Evenflo because it comes with three main components: the stroller base, the infant car seat & base, and the carriage.  (This system is called Pivot.)

The carriage is awesome because it is positionable, and you can face it towards you or away from you. You can also change the angle as baby grows! I love the large canopy to provide shade from the sun! It will be perfect for all those family walks this fall!

The stroller is easy to push and maneuver, and I love the storage basket beneath (easy to access)! I also love the cupholder!

I’m seriously getting so excited to use my new travel system!

The infant car seat that comes with this Evenflo travel system is just wonderful! It is crash tested and meets or exceeds all federal safety standards, and I can trust that it is completely safe for my little one on the way!

The car seat easily clicks into the stroller base so if baby is sleeping I can not disturb him or her! Love how easy that transition from car to stroller is.

See this big smile? That’s because I just realized that in a few months, I’ll have an adorable, snuggly baby to buckle into this seat! And, since my babies tend to be “good sized” (in other words, rolly polly), I’m glad that this car seat is relatively light-weight on its own! It’s strong and sturdy, for sure, but carrying it doesn’t feel like a chore. That’s a huge bonus when my babies tend to come out too big for newborn sized clothing!

I love how easily the stroller folds up! It’s like magic. So simple to do (and simple is a big selling point for this busy mom)! When folded up, it is very trim, too! I can easily fit it in the back hatch so it can go everywhere with us!

Getting our travel system is just one more thing we can check off our to-do list as we prepare for baby Jellybean’s arrival! So excited to meet this little one and introduce him or her to our neighborhood!

A First Trimester Summary

March 18, 2017 by Aliesha

I’m back! Thank you all SO much for your encouraging words and congratulations on our recent announcement! We are so excited about this new little life God has entrusted to our family.

I thought I’d do a little recap of my first trimester, now that I’m solidly in the second trimester now! (And since I need to catch you up on the last two months of life around here!)

Without further ado…

A First Trimester Summary

4 weeks 5 days 5:02PM It’s dinner time and I’m standing in the kitchen in my pajamas eating an actual lemon. (Yep. I ate the whole thing.)

5 weeks 6 days 12:02PM I’ve been in bed all day. I can’t even.

6 weeks 0 days 5:28PM It’s possible my children think I’m dying. I’ve received 16 “Get Well Soon” cards today.

6 weeks 5 days 5:34PM I wrote a haiku.

Laying on my bed
Just trying not to vomit
First trimester woes

7 weeks 6 days 3:52 PM Vera made a list of baby names for me (“So Mama & Dadda, choos frum this list uf neyms.”)

8 weeks 3 days 2:03PM I’m at the peak of my nausea and I have burst blood vessels all around my eyes from the violent vomitting. I’ll spare you the photo.

9 weeks 3 days 4:12PM Current craving. Can’t stop; won’t stop. (Hence baby’s new nickname: Jellybean.)

10 weeks 1 day 12:20PM Felt well enough to eat my first serving of vegetables in a month. #wishIwereexaggerating

11 weeks 0 days 3:26PM Realized for the first time that I still have a December calendar hanging up in the kitchen. Today is February 10.

11 weeks 2 days 12:13PM Feeling well enough today for a picnic on the porch with my family, as well as a walk, which I regretted later due to lots of cramping.

12 weeks 1 day 8:50PM In bed. Before 9PM. Ah, bed. I love bed.

Returning to the present day…

I am 16 weeks this weekend, and I’m definitely feeling back to normal (praise hands!). January and February were rough, but the Lord was so gracious to our family and sustained us even though I was sick around the clock! Tad helped out a TON more than usual, and the kids were awesome helpers, but I know everyone is glad that mama is back to her normal routine and responsibilities!

And here’s a little “progress” photo!  This was taken at week 15.

Thanks for sticking with this ol’ blog even though I abandoned it for two months! Glad to be back. 🙂

We Needed a…

… Tiebreaker!!

Yes… we are excited to announce that our tiebreaker baby is on the way!  Baby number FIVE will be SO loved by his or her big siblings, parents, cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and church family.

We are richly blessed.  And we all really love donuts too (hence the big smiles).

It was harder than I anticipated to get a proper photo!!

Theodore: “Okay, Mom, I’ve held this donut long enough! May I please eat it now??”

And I realize now that it looks like I’m announcing that our tiebreaker is “pink,” but we actually won’t know that for a while!  We will be finding out this time (I was outvoted!), but not until probably late March.

We took a video of us telling our exciting news to the children!  They were thrilled.

And more excitement…

Thank you for sharing in our joy… and for understanding why I haven’t been blogging as much lately! Lots of “morning” (all day) sickness has kept me doing just the bare minimum lately and not a whole lot else.

Happy Monday!
