Vera’s Five!

Happy birthday, sweet Vera! We can hardly believe you’re already five years old!

You are growing into such a delightful young lady who is helpful, kind, a good listener, and SO smart!

We are constantly amazed by all of the things you are learning, and it especially thrills our hearts to see your desire to learn more about God!

You are learning to be such a wonderful helper to us and we love seeing how you care for Cordelia and Jude. You are a wonderful big sister!

Vera, you are sweet and loving towards us and we’re thankful for all of the hugs and kisses you give us!

It is so much fun to tease you and make you laugh! We like being silly with you!

We are so glad you love looking at books and know that soon you will be reading on your own. How exciting!

You bring so much joy into our lives and we are so glad you were born!

Today, on the day you turn five, we hope you know how very much we love you!

You are a gift to us!

Vera’s Fifth Birthday Party

On Saturday we celebrated Vera’s birthday (early) with both sets of grandparents and a couple of uncles! I wanted to go ahead and have her birthday celebration early since my energy is waning each week. We’ll still have a special day on her actual birthday though!

It was so nice to have Tad’s parents, my parents, and my brothers here with us for the low-key party.

I know Vera felt very loved by everyone!

We had a taco salad bar which was AWESOME. We’ve been eating leftovers all week!

I found some really cute Daniel Tiger printables to help make her party special!

Of course I made our favorite chocolate cake recipe, per Vera’s request! She also requested a banner on the cake, sprinkles, and a “5” candle!

We’re so thankful for our happy, spunky Vera and we can hardly believe she’s about to turn five!

Family Announcement!

On Saturday morning, we gathered the kids onto the couch for an exciting family announcement!

(Sorry for the weird lighting that covers my face!)

We were just tickled with their response!

We are so thankful to God for the precious new life that is growing inside me! We feel doubly blessed that this baby is healthy, since we actually had a miscarriage in November.

It was so beautiful to see/hear a strong heartbeat on Friday at my appointment.

Expected arrival of this new baby is early September, and I’m 8 weeks along right now.

(If you’re currently struggling with not being able to get pregnant or have recently suffered a loss, please know that my heart goes out to you. I wrote this post last time around, but I still feel everything in it!)

Later in the day on Saturday, Vera came up to me and said, “Mommy, I prayed that God would give us a new baby!” (So sweet, right?)

And still later, Cordelia came running into my room and yelled, “MOMMY! Have you had the baby yet?!”

While Tad was out at the grocery store that afternoon, I heard the girls discussing where he was.
“He went out to get the new baby,” explained CC to Vera.

Grateful for my silly girls who keep me laughing, and my incredibly supportive husband who is keeping the house running while I’m sick!
