Friday Favorites

June 21, 2013 by Aliesha

Happy Friday!  Here are several things I’m loving right now!

Copious amounts of this coffee: Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee from Target.  Don’t worry; it’s decaf.

This lovely plant from Ikea.  I have no less than four of them in various places around my house.  They add a touch of “life” to a room, plus I can’t kill them because I forgot to water them because they are FAKE.

For some reason, breakfast tastes better eaten out of these fab bowls from Anthropologie.  This dishtowel (also from Anthro) is so pretty (my favorite colors!).

After many of our clear glass tumblers broke, I decided to buy some fun ones from Ikea.  These are whimsical and surprisingly sturdy.

I am totally loving these two candles right now!  The one on the left is from Bath & Body Works (it was a gift from my mom) and smells like summer… or a tropical beach.  I keep it in my bedroom.  The one on the right is from Target but it smells exactly like the famous Volcano candle from Anthro.  I keep it in the bathroom for now.

Making my grocery list is much more fun with this cute notepad from Anthro!  I picked up this fun timer on clearance at Sur la Table after my old one broke (it fell off the fridge too many times).

I’m still loving this little buddy after a week of having him!  Vera adores him (waaaay too much), so most of my day is spent telling her to leave him alone!  He is very patient, bless his heart, and hasn’t scratched her once.

No picture for this one, but I am totally loving BREAKFAST right now.  I think I’m consuming half of my daily intake of calories at breakfast.  Yesterday I had Greek yogurt, two peaches, a piece of bacon, two fried eggs, and a muffin to eat.  Today I had scrambled eggs with cheese and spinach, a piece of bacon, and a slice of whole wheat bread.

I’m also loving this Cup of Coffee Cake as a treat in the evening.  I make it with ww flour, sucanat, and Greek yogurt.  Delish!

And, to finish up, here are a few links I love right now too!

**While I mentioned several products in this post, I was not compensated in any way to do so.  I purchased most of these things with my own (birthday) money, and all my opinions are my own!

Here are some worthwhile reads I wanted to pass on to you today!  Enjoy!

I love this article that emphasizes what our goal should be as we build our homes: “Lord help me to build the kind of home where all who enter find it ‘impossible to keep from thinking of God.’”  Read the whole thing here.

This is a great reminder about technology (and its uses and downfalls).  “…Community—the rich kind, the transforming kind, the valuable and difficult kind—doesn’t happen in partial truths and well-edited photo collections on Instagram. Community happens when we hear each other’s actual voices, when we enter one another’s actual homes, with actual messes, around actual tables telling stories that ramble on beyond 140 pithy characters.”  Read all of the post here.

If you’re feeling like motherhood is only hard all the time, this post should encourage you.  “Right now, what matters most is training those little hearts for the Lord. That’s it. Love them and nurture them and train them. That’s what has Eternal value.”  Read the rest here.

This is a sweet post about a mother’s influence on her son’s spiritual formation.  “You need to realize that your child’s spiritual life is not the church’s responsibility, but yours. We are there to help you do your job as a parent. See, your primary job as a parent is not to make sure that your kid gets on the right sports team, or the right college, or has a ‘successful life,’ or is even ‘happy.’ Your primary job is, by implicit example and explicit instruction, to point your child to Christ in all that you do.”  Read all of it here.

I loved this post on Lies Ministry Wives Believe. “As a pastor’s wife, I find myself fighting the same old internal battles that have plagued me from year one, only now I recognize them more quickly and have tools to combat them.”  Read the whole post here.
