Easy Ornament Upgrade

November 19, 2012 by Aliesha

I recently found some inexpensive ornaments at Michael’s that I “upgraded” to make them cuter!

These are laser-cut felt ornaments that were only 3/$1.  They came with a simple gold cord, so I cut it off and added some pretty red and white ribbon to make them look a little nicer.

I also found these fun red and white striped paper bags in which to package the ornaments.

I thought these would make nice gifts for Sunday School teachers or anyone else to whom you’d want to give a little gift.

Have you started making and buying your Christmas gifts yet?  I’m a little behind this year, but I’m sure I’ll catch up!

MiMi’s Soda Shoppe

October 1, 2012 by Aliesha

Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while “know” my mom already, but for those of you who aren’t acquainted with her, allow me to introduce “MiMi” (as she is known to my girls).

MiMi is a wonderfully talented, godly woman who is insanely creative and is the best gift-giver I know.

She has been using these talents for years to make customized name calligraphy plaques as gifts for new babies, weddings, and other special occasions.

Just last week, she finally opened her shoppe for business, and now is selling lovely customized name calligraphies (calligraphys?) to the public.

Here are a few of my favorite items in her shoppe:

All of the items are created especially for you, using the names you provide and the colors you select.  MiMi is also willing to chat with you if you need further customization in addition to what she already offers.

Several of her items are currently on sale as she celebrates the grand opening of MiMi’s Soda Shoppe.

Please stop by her shoppe for a visit and add it to your favorites!

What’s your favorite item in her shoppe?

Cardmaking

June 28, 2012 by Aliesha

I made some simple greeting cards last week during naptime.

Greeting cards can be quite expensive, so I usually buy mine at the Dollar Tree for 2/$1 or I just make some simple ones myself.

It’s really easy!
1) Cut a 8.5×11 piece of cardstock in half forming two pieces that are 8.5×5.5.
2) Fold each piece in half to make a card.
3) Cut a piece of patterned paper (I buy scrapbooking paper on sale at Michael’s or A.C. Moore) to 4.25×5.5.
4) Glue to the card (or adhere with double-sided tape, if you prefer).
5) Add a greeting to the front (I print mine from the computer onto cardstock OR I letterpress them… you could also use rubber stamps) and adhere using foam dots (so it stands out from the card).

That’s it!  I like to buy coordinating paper so I can embellish the cards a little more.  You can make a bunch of these in an afternoon, then you will be stocked for any upcoming holidays and special events!

Do you ever make your own cards?
