(Almost) a Year of Swagbucks

May 11, 2011 by Aliesha

About a year ago, my sister-in-law Angela told me about Swagbucks, a site that allows you to earn “points” (Swagbucks) for searching the web.  I had heard about Swagbucks before, but I didn’t think it was legit.  She convinced me to sign up, and I’m so glad I did!

Now, almost a year later, I have earned enough Swagbucks to redeem (throughout the year) $95 in amazon.com gift cards!!!  This is for real – you can actually earn amazon.com gift cards and other prizes just for searching the web, taking surveys, filling out polls, and doing other easy stuff.

I’m hoping I can get to $100 by the end of May (when I started), because that would just be cool to say I earned $100 in a year!

So what are you waiting for?  Join Swagbucks today and start earning!

French Apothecary Jar

February 28, 2011 by Aliesha

I recently saw a sweet French apothecary jar on etsy, and since I didn’t want to pay the $22 price tag, I decided to make one of my own!  It now resides in our pink (guest) bathroom.

You can make one too — it’s really easy! You just need a small jar (mine is from Goodwill and I’m sure I paid under $1 for it), some brown ink, some rubber cement or modge podge, and a graphic you like.  The Graphics Fairy has tons of lovely vintage graphics.  The label I used can be found here.

1. Clean and dry your jar thoroughly. Measure the size you want your graphic to be so it will fit on the front of your jar.

2. Select a graphic to use, and, using a word processing program, resize it and print it out.

3. Rub the edges of the label with some brown ink to give it a little more depth.

4. Using either rubber cement or modge podge, adhere the label to your jar.  Let dry.

Enjoy!

Quick Decorating Idea

December 9, 2010 by Aliesha

I’m still preparing for our family coming today, and I’ve been busy the last couple of days making Whole Wheat Bread, Artisan Bread, Minestrone Soup, Italian Tossed Salad, Peppermint Biscotti, and a few other things!

But I wanted to share a quick decorating idea for you:
Toss some holly branches into your chandelier for instant seasonal flair!

You can use holly berries for your centerpiece too.

As a side note, if any of you are local, you are welcome to come and cut some holly berries!  Our bushes have been overabundant this year!
