Baby to Bee Shower

March 10, 2016 by Aliesha

Today I’m sharing all the details about a super fun baby shower our small group threw for our friend Ellen!  She doesn’t know if she’s having a boy or a girl, so we went with the theme: “What will baby bee? Sweet as honey!”  (This theme could also be spun as “baby to bee” or “mama to bee.”)

I got the napkins at a party store, but I tracked them down here for you too.

My friend Stuart has a cookie business and she made these beautiful “B” cookies!  The sign next to them read, “B is for Baby and Bicknell and Baby Bumble Bee.”

I made treat bars with Honeycomb cereal (made just like Rice Krispy Treats).

For the guest book, I had everyone place a pink or blue fingerprint on a bee to indicate their guess as to the gender of the baby!  Lots of pink bees… I guess we’ll find out soon!

I made a banner with letters I printed out and adhered to scrapbook paper pennants.

The confetti was also from a party store, but I also spotted it here.

I made a gift record page so we could keep track of who gave her which gifts.  At the bottom it says, “You are so loved, mama-to-bee!”

For favors, I tied several honey sticks together (found here) with baker’s twine and a little hexagon tag that read, “Honey and babies… what could be sweeter?”

I hope she felt blessed by her shower!  We all can’t wait to meet Baby B!

April’s Gold and Floral Bridal Shower

July 14, 2015 by Aliesha

This past weekend I had the privilege of celebrating with my friend April as she prepares to get married in a little over a month!

Our life group threw her a shower and I had so much fun putting together the gold and floral details for the celebration!

April is beautiful inside and out, and we all are SO excited for her and Adam to get married at the end of August.  She looked so lovely at the shower (as always!).

Gold vases were spray painted and filled with silk flowers.  I sprinkled gold sequins and gold sea shells on the table.  The pink ruffle is crepe paper sewn and gathered.

We had lots of sweet and girly food!  Macarons are a craze for a reason, and we loved sampling several different flavors.  These are from Trader Joe’s (you have to try the fig ones).

We had rice krispie treats.

And chocolate-dipped pretzel rods.

Vera helped me make this cheese platter (Colby cheese cubes and Monterey Jack cheese cubes with blackberries).

We also had spinach artichoke dip and crackers.

My favorite part was the chicken salad on rolls!  I could eat that every day.

I didn’t get a picture of the drinks, but we had an assortment of sparkling juices (lemonade, pomegranate blueberry, peach, and blood orange) in champagne glasses (bottoms painted gold).

I had a few “activities” for everyone to participate in.  I asked everyone to bring a recipe for April, so we gave her a little stack of some of our most-loved recipes.

We also wrote on little cards “Advice and Well Wishes for the Soon-to-Be Mrs.!”

Finally, we all wrote down a couple of clever date night ideas for April and Adam.

I decorated the mantle in the living room with more gold and floral!  Along the bottom you can see photos of Adam & April, which I stole from her Instagram account and clipped to paper doilies.gold and floral bridal shower | Feathers in Our Nest

Of course it wouldn’t be a shower without a showering of gifts!  We all wanted the super-cool double-decker casserole dish carrier that one sweet friend gave April!

My girls loved being at the party and acted like ladies until the sugar-high started.

I’m so thankful the Lord has placed these women in my life to encourage and challenge me!  At the end of the shower, we had a prayer time for April.

Vera adores April and was so sad to see her leave on Sunday!

Silly little girls.

Hope you enjoyed seeing our fun little gold and floral bridal shower!  I had lots of fun planning it!

The Sauder Experience: Sideboard Restyled

October 10, 2014 by Aliesha

Sauder recently challenged me to take one piece of furniture and style it in three different ways! This was easy, and so fun!

If you remember from this post back in the summer (where you can read about my experience shopping for and assembling the piece), I selected the Shoal Creek Soft White Dresser from Sauder. This is what it looked like then.

Three months later, I still love it! I’ve been using it as a sideboard in my dining room when entertaining, and it is so great to have the extra surface to set things on other than the table!

We used it at Vera’s birthday party (see here and here), as well as pretty much any other time we’ve had lots of guests over! We had a sandwich buffet on it one weekend, and another time we used it for holding all the dishes we served family-style. I also like being able to decorate it seasonally.

Here is one new way I styled it recently… for an autumn brunch!

The next way is a bit outside of the box, but I wanted to show the versatility of this piece! Many homeschooling families I know do their school work in their dining room, so I styled this as a practical piece for educational use!

As we start to do more “official” school stuff in the future, it will be great to be able to have all our supplies in the dining room so we can work right at the table.

Think about how many school supplies you can store in those drawers! Perfect for keeping everything conveniently within reach, yet also hidden out of site!

I love using this Sauder dresser in my dining room! I can’t wait to use it in many other fun ways in the future.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Sauder. The opinions and text are all mine.
