Church Planting

May 23, 2013 by Aliesha

Today I’m excited to “officially” share with you the new direction in ministry that God is taking Tad and our family!

For about a year, we have been feeling called on from youth ministry and have been pursing other ministry opportunities, though we have continued to serve in our current church.  Six months ago, Tad’s heart was burdened for church planting as we have both realized the need for solid new churches to be planted here in the United States.  Did you know that North America is the only continent where the church is not growing?

We discovered an exciting program at a nearby church (actually a fairly recent church plant) that trains pastors to plant new churches and equips them to go out with support (spiritual, practical, and financial).  Tad entered into this Church Planting Residency this spring and he has started to receive mentoring, training, and coaching in fundraising.

The Church Planting Residency is not a paid position, so we are raising monthly support from individuals who desire to see the kingdom of God expanded through the ministry of church planting.  Right now Tad is continuing to serve as a full-time Youth and Children’s Pastor at our current church until we raise the funds we need to be in the residency full-time.  He also works part-time as a waiter, so this is a very busy season for our family!

We are trusting God to continue to lead us as we raise funds to church plant and as we pray about where God is leading our family to plant a new church.  These are exciting times and we are thankful to be heading in this direction!

Gender Reveal

March 26, 2013 by Aliesha

Yesterday we had our ultrasound and we got to see our precious new baby!

Baby Punkin’s heart rate was 157.

Punkin did not stop moving for the entire ultrasound!  We saw at least three complete somersaults, as well as very wiggly arms and legs.  The ultrasound technician could not believe how active Punkin was!  (Oh boy, are we in for it!)  We even got a few waves!

Baby seems totally healthy… all organs are present and functioning as best as they can tell.  We are thankful!

Wanna see a picture?

And here’s one of the waves.

So sweet, right!?!

After the appointment, I went shopping!

Because…

…we’re going to need some blue outfits around here!

Baby Punkin is a he!

He is the third grandchild, and first grandson, on my family’s side.

He is the sixth grandchild on Tad’s side (tying it up between boys and girls).

Vera is very excited about her baby brother.  We asked her several times the morning of the ultrasound whether the baby inside Mommy was a boy or a girl.  She said “boy” every time!

Tad is excited that he won’t be so outnumbered anymore.  🙂  He loves his three girls, but he is very excited to have a SON too!

For those of you who are mothers of a boy or boys, what is your favorite thing about having a son?

Cordelia’s One Year Old!

March 2, 2013 by Aliesha

It’s hard to believe, but our little Cordelia turned one year old last Saturday!

We had an awesome party (which I will blog about soon) for her and enjoyed making lots of fun memories that day.

Here are some milestones:
-weighs 21 pounds 12 ounces
-is 29 inches long
-sleeps in the same room as Vera now!
-has three teeth
-is very close to walking
-is a very happy baby almost all the time
-naps twice a day
-eats a TON for lunch & dinner (we are always shocked at how much food… especially meat… she can put away!)
-loves her crocheted blanket and Cuddly Bear
-doesn’t seem to really suck her thumb (and doesn’t take a paci either)
-enjoys stroller rides
-has just enough hair for a tiny bow

We love you, sweet Cordelia!!
