Back to Normal!

December 13, 2013 by Aliesha

I’m back!

In the last month, we:
– traveled out of state twice (for a total of 10 nights away from home)
– celebrated Thanksgiving with both sides of the family and Christmas with Tad’s family
– (well, I) had mastitis
– had our living room painted
– hosted a Christmas party
– had a stomach bug that hung on for almost a week (fortunately the kids were spared)
– decorated our Christmas tree!

All that to say, this poor blog has been a bit neglected!  Here are some (cell phone) photos from the last few weeks.

Vera made cookies at MiMi’s house at Thanksgiving.

The girls had such a fun time with their fun uncles and their friends who joined us for Thanksgiving!  Here, Caeleb and Jeremy (my brother’s friends) took turns lifting the girls (each around 30 lbs.) in the air!

We left for Thanksgiving with the living room looking like this…

…and came back to this!  (Well, not quite… we finished up a bit of painting and put the furniture back in place, but Tad’s dad did the vast majority of the work while we were gone… so very sweet!)  I have better pictures to post soon.

Jude is so stinkin’ cute I can’t even stand it.

To celebrate Angela’s (my sister-in-law) birthday, we went to Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God tour!  It was amazing and so worshipful.

Jude stayed awake for the whole concert, completely enchanted by the music!

Tad’s parents took us to a botanical garden light display and the kids all had a great time looking at the pretty lights!  Even Jude was mesmerized.

I don’t often get one-on-one time with just Cordelia, so I took her to our town’s Christmas parade this week.  We had a really fun time!

We decorated our Christmas tree together as a family!  The girls had a blast helping put the ornaments on it.

And now for a montage of Cordelia/Vera messes!

Vera painted her and Cordelia’s feet with red nail polish (the day I had mastitis),

Cordelia climbed into the tub fully clothed (after she’d already had her bath),

Vera helped get more Cheerios for Cordelia,

Vera styled Cordelia’s hair with Desitin,

and Vera colored Cordelia’s face and the wall in the nursery with a dry-erase marker.

Whew!  These sweet girls keep me on my TOES, that’s for sure!!

I have much more to post soon!

Family Easter Photos

April 1, 2013 by Aliesha

We’ve been CRAZY busy this weekend with a pretty major house project (if you follow me on Instagram, you have gotten a peek)!

I hope you all had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday yesterday and that you got to enjoy some time with family and friends!

Here are a few of our family photos from Sunday!

Tad’s parents have been staying with us this weekend (and helping with the aforementioned house project).

Our girls are dolls.  Seriously.

Flashback to last year and see how the girls have grown!  I get a little weepy when I see last year’s pictures. Vera was a baby then… she is a little girl now!  And Cordelia was a bitty thing… now she has so much personality!

Valentine’s Day Shirts

February 15, 2013 by Aliesha

Isn’t it amazing when God gives us blessings upon blessings… and things we desire but sometimes don’t even pray about because they are so “little”?

This week I was really wanting some cute Valentine’s Day clothes for Vera and Cordelia to wear so I could take some fun photos of them (see that post here).  Sure, they had pink/red shirts they could have worn, and I was okay with that.  Truly.

I almost bought some shirts at a consignment store, but felt silly purchasing something just for one day.  I hadn’t even mentioned this to Tad (or he probably would have told me to just buy the shirts), and it was such a little thing I hadn’t even prayed about it.

Wednesday when I was talking on the phone with a friend, I happened to go through a big bag of hand-me-down clothes that a friend had generously given me for the girls.  (I’m ashamed to admit how long this bag of clothes had been waiting for me to sort through it.)

Near the top of the bag, under a few dresses, were FIVE pink or red shirts with hearts on them (two of which the girls wore in their Valentine’s Day pictures).

I know this seems like such a little thing, but it’s little things like this that remind me how much God truly cares about ALL of the details of our lives (not just the BIG ones!).

God provided Valentine’s Day shirts for my girls… when I didn’t even ask!

I have dozens and dozens of stories like this (and I’m sure you do too!), and I know that God can be trusted to provide for our family in both big and small ways.  Are you trusting Him to provide for you today?
