Whitney’s Aqua and Coral Baby Shower

June 3, 2015 by Aliesha

I just love parties of any kind, but girly baby showers are one of my favorite things EVER!  We celebrated our friend Whitney’s baby-to-be at a pretty aqua and coral baby shower earlier this week.

Katie and Kara did a wonderful job decorating and putting together some amazing details for the party!  The tables were set with lovely linens, china, cloth napkins, fresh flowers, and cute milk bottles for glasses!

Kara made a sweet banner to hang over Katie’s chalkboard.

The food was delicious!  We enjoyed chocolate fondue with lots of yummy dippers.

There was also an array of cheese and crackers.

These blackberry tartlets were so pretty!  (Vanilla wafer + whipped cream cheese + ripe blackberry + a drizzle of honey)

I brought miniature lemon chess pies because anything “mini” is always cute! And what pregnant woman doesn’t like lemon?

Of course, we also had chocolate cupcakes! They were huge!

The gifts were so pretty and pink.

For our activities, Katie and Kara let us all make onesies for Whitney’s new baby!

We all cut out designs from fabric (to which Heat Bond had already been adhered) and then ironed the shapes onto the front of the onesies.

The other project was headband-making!

All of the onesies looked so cute up on display!  Can you guess which one I made?

I shared about this on Instagram, but these are my “bump friends” this pregnancy!  Whitney, Kristen, and I are due within two weeks of each other, but depending on who goes early/late (I’ll be going late, haha!), we could have our babies in July, August, and September!  They’re both having girls.

Thankful for the sweet conversations last night and for the blessing of Whitney’s new baby (and first girl)!

Wasn’t that DIY onesie idea cute?  Definitely tucking that one away for future showers I may plan!

Visiting New Bern

June 2, 2015 by Aliesha

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we try and take fun family outings a few times a month so that we can see new places and make memories together!  Last weekend we went to New Bern, NC for a little day trip!

Our kids are awesome travelers, so they didn’t mind the hour-and-twenty-minute car ride at all.

The first place we stopped was the local Goodwill, because you know I love to bargain shop!

Then we went to a really fun park called Kidsville.  It reminded me SO much of a park I went to as a kid!

The kids loved exploring all the fun hideouts!

There were lots of fun things to do and challenges they weren’t used to.

(Mom, if you’re reading this… doesn’t this look like Kids’ Castle?)

Some members of our family were starting to get tired and hungry, so we decided to head to lunch.

We ate at a delicious little restaurant called Cilantro’s Mexican Grill.  It was clean and family-friendly (extra napkins without having to ask!!), plus the food was all made to order from very fresh ingredients.  The kitchen is open so we could see the chef working.  We received great service, and of course the food was amazing!

We all got tacos with various meat fillings, but everything on the menu looked great!Cilantros

After lunch we headed down to the water to visit Union Point Park.  We were able to walk out on some piers and get close to the water.  UnionPointPark

There is also a cool gazebo that the kids liked running around in!

The breeze coming off the water (the Neuse River) felt great!

While we were down by the water, we met a lovely family of ducks!  We saw Mr. and Mrs. Mallard as well as ten fluffy little ducklings!  Our kids love the book Make Way for Ducklings, so this was quite a fun experience for them.

New Bern flies a flag with a bear on it, so there are large bear statues throughout the city.  We found some smaller ones at the park!

We enjoyed walking around downtown and visiting some little shops.

We got ice cream at a really fun place called the Cow Cafe!  They had lots of flavors to pick from, and the whole restaurant is cow-themed.  Jude particularly liked the electric train that ran around the top of the room.

After our ice cream, we drove around the historic district.  The kids started to fall asleep at this point, but Tad and I loved looking at all of the amazing architecture!  The house below was built in 1907 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The kids all slept the whole way home (I guess we tired them out!).  We had a really fun day and we look forward to going back to New Bern again!

Week Twenty-Seven

June 1, 2015 by Aliesha

Week-27

Since it’s been about five weeks since my last pregnancy post, I thought I should pop in with an update!  Baby Apricot now weighs approximately two pounds and he or she is VERY active lately!  I feel all kinds of flips, twists, and kicks throughout the day and night!  The girls have even had a chance to feel Apricot moving, and they think it’s pretty neat!

I’ve been very tired the last couple of weeks, so maybe baby is going through a growth spurt or something!  I just want to sleep all the time.  I’m thankful I can still grab a nap in the afternoon most days.  In other news, Tums are still my best friend due to all the heartburn this time!  I never experienced this much heartburn with the other babies, but it’s definitely not a big deal.

We have not picked out any names yet.  As it gets closer to the birth I’m sure we’ll have our top contenders picked out!

Feeling blessed each day to have this little one growing inside me!
