Week Thirty-Five

July 27, 2015 by Aliesha

Week35

Sometime in between last week and this week, my “nesting” instinct kicked into gear, and now I’m eagerly checking things off my to-do list!  In the past week I washed the car seat, assembled the double stroller, assembled the rock ‘n’ play sleeper, got out some baby clothes, packed the baby’s hospital bag, ordered a new SD card for my camera, printed out my birth plan, got my essential oils for labor all ready to go, gathered my postpartum supplies, and made a list of everything else I want to buy and do in the next couple of weeks!

Oh, and we finally decided on names!  We have first and middle names picked out for a boy and for a girl.  Good thing, since some pretty weird names were starting to sound good to me.  Cordelia’s most recent suggestion was “Ice Cream,” so let’s all be glad we didn’t turn the naming rights over to the three-year-old.

I’ve been reading Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth, which has been so helpful and encouraging so far.  I plan on trying to finish reading it before the birth.

I forgot how puffy my face gets toward the end of my pregnancies.  Thankfully it goes back to normal eventually!  Ha!

Have any of you gone into labor with your babies on a full moon?  There’s a full moon the day after my due date, so I’m wondering if that may be when I go into labor this time.  I guess that’s kind of an old wives’ tale, but maybe…

I’ve been feeling wonderfully lately.  I’m sleeping very well at night.  During the evenings I still have Braxton Hicks contractions and sometimes during the day too.  I’m thankful that I’ve had such a healthy pregnancy thus far!

Baby Apricot’s Surprise Shower!

July 22, 2015 by Aliesha

On Monday night, my friends threw me a surprise baby shower for Baby Apricot!  The entire shower was so incredibly sweet and beautiful!

I loved the Baby Apricot bunting banner!

Everyone got a chance to predict our baby’s birthday and gender, as well as write notes of encouragement for me to read during labor (how sweet!!).

The girls each picked a color of ink and stamped footprints on the calendar day when they think Apricot will arrive!  We pretty much have the first two weeks of September blocked off, so someone will be right!

The food table was gorgeous!  (And, of course, the food was delicious!)

There were so many adorable touches, like this cutlery holder and the baskets of apricots!

One of my friends has a cookie business and she made these precious apricot sugar cookies!

They even made Apricot Lemonade for us to drink, as well as coffee and sweet tea.

I felt so incredibly blessed to be surrounded by friends who wanted to help me celebrate the birth of my fourth baby!  Their kindness was so overwhelming.  I don’t have a picture of it (I think Whitney got one!), but they all surprised me with the gift of a double stroller!  We can’t wait to use it!  Tad helped me assemble it last night.

Oh, and did I mention that Whitney (hostess), on the left below, is having her baby in about two weeks?  Our babies will be such good friends!

God has been so faithful in providing friendship and community at our church, and I’m incredibly grateful.

Thank you, sweet friends (including those who weren’t able to make it to the shower!), for helping me celebrate Baby Apricot’s (hopefully) soon arrival!
