Occupied

November 7, 2011 by Aliesha

As you can probably tell from the silence on the blog last week/weekend, I have been pretty busy!

Thought I’d share some of the things I’ve been doing in the last week:
-baking bread (I’ve been grinding my own wheat!)
-trying new recipes (I think I’ve tried six+ new recipes in the last week)
-baking ahead for Thanksgiving and Christmas (I have Angel Rolls, sweet potato casserole, and several batches of cookie dough in the freezer)
-making Christmas gifts (I made 20 gifts for $0 last week… will post about that soon!)
-cleaning (I’m on a “Clean ALL the things!” spree lately)
-playing with Vera (she makes me laugh… and I love spending time with her)
-reading (currently I’m trying to finish One Thousand Gifts, which I began months ago)
-recording God’s blessings to our family (I started a journal for this purpose!)

I’ll try to keep the posts coming this week, but if I miss a day, it’s probably because I’m doing one (or all) of the above!

i can’t wait to see your homemade Christmas gifts. we are doing a ‘homemade’ Christmas this year. i’m so excited!!!

i just got ‘one thousand gifts’ last week and have been reading it, too.

    have a great day!!

ps. i’m making your angel rolls for thanksgiving. are they okay to make ahead and freeze… do they still taste nice once thawed?

@Liz @ thequickjourney.blogspot.comI made my Angel Rolls ahead of time and freeze them all the time! They always turn out beautifully. Make sure they are completely cool, then store in gallon-sized freezer bags.

Sounds like you’ve been having fun! And you’ll have to share any recipes you try with your freshly ground wheat. I’m always looking for more!

@StaceyI’m posting our whole wheat waffle recipe in the morning! And I’m experimenting to see if I can make Artisan Bread with whole wheat flour.

    @Aliesha

Oh, I’d love to know if the artisan bread works! I actually have the Healthy Bread in 5 Minutes a Day book, but sadly I haven’t used it. I did make a fabulous Ciabatta bread the other day, just not whole wheat.
