Kitchen Sprucing

February 2, 2011 by Aliesha

…brought to you by Michael’s!
(just kidding… this isn’t a sponsored post)

I found a few cute new decorative items for my kitchen, but I told myself that I needed to clean it before I could decorate!  (That’s partly what gave me the motivation for cleaning out my fridge.)  On the left above my stove, you can see my gorgeous new bird salt & pepper shakers which were a gift.  On the right, you can see my new creamer and sugar from Michael’s!

Run, don’t walk, to your nearest Michael’s to grab a set of these darlings! They look a little bit zgallerie, don’t you think?  I put yellow silk forsythia stems (also from Michael’s) in them for a pop of color.

Next up is my new Paula Deen spoon rest which reads, “Cookin’ makes you good lookin’.” I love it!  This provided my color inspiration for my kitchen sprucing.

I put a vase (actually an old orange cream soda bottle) with more yellow silk forsythia flowers in it right by the sink to brighten up that corner.

On top of my newly organized baker’s rack, I added a vase of yellow silk gerbera daisies and a new bright green creamer and sugar (a Christmas gift from Andrea).

You can see my new system for storing root vegetables.  (I bought these baskets on the cheap and took out the ugly fabric liners.)

I also added a white cake stand filled with tangerines to the table in the breakfast nook.  They really pop against the green fabric!  (And, once again, we’re more tempted to choose them as a healthy snack!)

So that’s how I’ve been getting my kitchen “prettied up” for spring!

It looks fantastic! I need to get some spring color into my kitchen, too. Wish I had a Michael’s nearby!
