Christmas in July: A Giveaway!

July 31, 2010 by Aliesha

***THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED***

Yesterday I started working on some Christmas planning, shopping, list-making, and crafting. I know it’s early, but I got really excited about Christmas all of a sudden, and thought I should put the energy to good use!

One of the projects I started working on is sewing little felt bird Christmas ornaments. I would love to make enough bird ornaments (this kind and several others too) to fill our whole tree this year. Fabric ornaments are very child(and cat)-friendly.
Today I am giving away one of these little bird ornaments to a faithful blog reader!

To enter this giveaway (mandatory for entry):

– Leave a comment on this post with a time-saving Christmas tip. This can be about anything from entertaining to decorating, or from crafting to gift buying. Just share a way you’ve learned to make the holiday season less stressful!
– Make sure your email address is visible in your profile (or leave it in a comment)

For additional giveaway entries (leave a separate comment for each):

– Tweet about this giveaway and link back directly to this post
– Blog about this giveaway and link back directly to this post
– Become a follower of Feathers in Our Nest through Google Friend connect

This giveaway is open to all residents of the continental U.S.

This giveaway will remain open until Tuesday, August 10 at 11:59PM. A winner will randomly be selected and announced later that week (unless I have a baby, in which case at some point in the distant future you will hear about the winner of this giveaway).

CUTE ornaments!! I would love to win one!! My time-saving tip is that I buy the paper and envelopes for our annual Christmas newsletter the year before—either right before Christmas or right after (on sale!) Then, when the mood strikes to begin writing/printing our letter, I have what I need to begin. Saves the stress & worry of finding “just the right paper” at the last minute (and, yes, sometimes I even have enough energy and creativity to coordinate our photo with the paper–that is really fun!) Last year I bought some with a child-like look since I knew I’d be announceing a grandbaby next Christmas!!

Those are really cute & I definitely need some kid friendly ornaments this year…my little one will be 8 months & probably quite active!!

My time saving tip is shopping ahead of time! I like to have all of my shopping done before December even begins so I can really enjoy the holiday season!!

Awe, no Canadian love!! My tip, regardless of whether I can participate or not, is to keep things simple. Spending time with the people I love is far more important than having the perefct Christmas tree πŸ™‚

My reducing stress tip is to shop online first, amazon and many other websites are great! Shopping in person with crazy people at the mall can be very stressful especially after Thanksgiving sales! Lots of places have their sales online as well, so don’t bother getting out of bed go online!

What cute little bird ornaments! I think your tree will look absolutely spectacular filled with these little birds!

My time-saving Christmas tip is to limit the number of gifts you give to each person. Then, you are able to focus more on what the Christmas season should really be about, spending time with loved ones. We used to give lots of gifts in our family, but a few years back, we decided to cut back. Now, each person gives 1 gift to some other randomly determined person (we draw names from a hat). It makes the Christmas season a lot more enjoyable when you don’t have to shop for a bazillion presents. So each family member receives just one (but one very carefully selected) Christmas gift. Of course, we do this only for the grown-ups because shopping for the kids is a whole different story. That’s way more fun!

Hmmm tips… dont buy ornaments that can break πŸ™‚ and if you do put them WAYYYYYYYYYY up high! hehe.

Love the little birds, so cute!!

Also dont spend to much on each other, seriously.. enjoy it with the family πŸ™‚ let them spoil your new baby, hehe. We do 3 gifts for the boys, thats it, the rest of our family makes up for anything they may still want πŸ™‚
