Nursery Project: Bird Mobile

June 3, 2010 by Aliesha

I’m excited to show you the bird mobile that I created for our nursery! It is a little hard to photograph, but I think you’ll at least get the idea of what it looks like. I’ll try to get a better picture at some point, but these will have to do for now!Tad is working on putting the crib together, and we are on our way to pick up a glider rocker this afternoon. We also have a changing table, so we are “getting there” when it comes to having our nursery ready for our baby girl!

Want to see how our nursery is progressing? Check out our previous posts on the fabric birds, cloth cube, bunting banner, light switch cover, and white frames, and wall art that I made.

Owen LOVES HIS MOBILE, so I know your lil one will love hers. He looks at it A LOT when I put him down, I give it a good twirl and hes mezmorized. You do need to ask for a HARMONY LANTERN tho! I just got a new one in as a gift from the company, its beautiful, has stars and sheep on it. Owen loves looking at that 2. They are so beautiful.

    Kristine,

I made the fabric birds using a pattern and directions found here: http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/birdpattern1-1.pdf (though I made my birds a little smaller and made the beaks a little different). I used an embroidery hoop for the ring at the top, and simply tied scraps of fabric (you could use pieces of ribbon) around it until it looked full. I used invisible (transparent) thread to hang the birds from the ring. I used a little plastic ring (available at sewing stores) to hang it from the very top! Hope it helps.
