Reusable Bags

April 13, 2010 by Aliesha

Since I started shopping at Aldi a few weeks ago, I have been thinking more about reusable bags. Aldi requires you to bring your own bags when you shop (or buy theirs), so I’ve been slightly more conscious of remembering my reusable bags when I go shopping. (Though there was that infamous Aldi trip where I forgot my quarter for my cart AND I only had one bag with me… what a sight I’m sure I was, toting around everything in my arms…haha.)

I have two bags that I got from Bath & Body Works at Christmas time (for $1 a piece) that are somewhat similar to Envirosax (but much cheaper). They roll up into tiny packages that fit easily in my purse. They are cute (the ones I have are blue and green), but as far as I know they only sell them around Christmas as stocking-stuffers (correct me if I’m wrong).

This bag featured to the right is from Fresh Market. It has a flat bottom and is more canvas-y than my other two (which are thinner). I think it’s really cute… and it was only $1 as well! It holds a good bit. Only downside: it doesn’t fold up really small, so I can’t really keep it in my purse.

Besides my Aldi trips, I haven’t been very good at remembering to use my bags when I’m out shopping. I’m trying to get better at this!

Do you use reusable bags? What kind do you use? How do you remember to take them with you and use them when you shop?

I always use reusable bags. I have Chico bags, which stuff inside themselves kind of. They have a small bag attached that you stuff the bag into anyway. They are really lightweight nylon I believe. My grocery store gives me 4 cents credit for each bag I bring. I think that’s a better idea than charging people for bags. A bit more positive incentive πŸ™‚

with that flat bottom bag u should use it to put all ur reusable bags in, so just tote that into the store with the other bags ready to go. thats what i do. otherwise i end up loosing bags or forgetting which purse or diaper bag they are in. I also use produce bags I got off etsy. They are fantastic!
They are by the same lady who makes the reusable napkins i use.

I do use envirosax tho and LOVE THEM, they fit the most out of all my reusable bags and have held up the best. I got mine free via review tho πŸ˜‰ I will admit they are expensive but you cant beat the function of them.

Oh and target gives you 5cents credit each time u use a reusable bag now πŸ™‚ I think Lowes food does 2.

Don’t you love Aldi?? They have such great produce! I forgot my quarter today b/c I was driving my hub’s car. I always keep a quarter in the console of my car so I always have one with me. I usually only remember to use my reusable bags at Aldi, but I’m trying to remember them for other stores.

Yes! I do! My super duper absolute favorite (that the baggers always comment on and ask me where I got it) is my Baggu bag. Folds up into a 4×4 pouch that is comes w/, and holds a boatload of stuff! I plan to do a review on it one of these days over at Windy Poplars and tell folks all about them! I also have 3 “normal” bags. Keep them all inside each other and in the back pocket of my car seat so they’re always with me and handy. My Baggu lives in my purse though πŸ™‚

Target is giving away a “green” bag this April 18. I use my Harris Teeter bags which have a square bottom. I have many others from Lowe’s, Target, World Market. I keep them folded up in one of the square bottom bags. I try to keep my bags in my van. I do have a small one from Target that folds small and keep with me at all times in case I need a bag. Andrea gave me some produce bags that come in various sizes and which store in a small knit sack. These are great! She bought them on Etsy.
